A cross section at 38 deg N of the elevations of the original high-resolution (10 min x 10 min) Navy topography data, the "mean", "standard", and "envelope" orography, derived from the Navy data; used for the 4 deg (lat) x 5 deg (lon) version of the UCLA AGCM.

The "standard" orography is a kind of averaged (i.e.,mean) orography, but is different from the "mean" orography since it is from a source other than that for the "mean" and "envelope" orography.

The "mean" orography is significantly rougher than the "standard" orography.
