So how does a Logo get made?

A recent request for a logo that symbolised the purpose of the Center for Earth Systems Research was received at MLC . The description was:
"We want weather, earth, sea and sun.
Keep it simple so we can put it on
      our letter head too."
The first two tentative logos looked like this:

1.

CESR logo

2.

CESR logo

Then after some dicussion about arrangement and style, three more logos were presented:

3.

4.

5.

After seeing various ideas, the CESR group asked to combine some of the concepts together into something like this:

6.

CESR logo

although this particular image was hacked by one of the CESR group. As you can see, he mixed up the colour map, lost resolution and pixilized the fonts. This goes to show how incompetent most academics are at this sort of thing and why YOU need to call MLC .

...and that is how a logo is made.
