Minimum Software Installation List for CESR
January 05, 2005


Because of the growing non-uniformity of our self maintained Linux computers, it has been decided that we must be both more organized and more dilligent in setting and maintaining a standard set of software that is constantly available on each of the computers at CESR.


List of Software to be Maintained on CESR Linux Based Computers (January 05, 2005)

File viewing

acroread   (/usr/local/bin/acroread)  for viewing .pdf files

display  (/usr/bin/display) for viewing .eps, .pdf, .ps, .jpg, .gif, etc

gv or ghostview  (/usr/X11R6/bin/ghostview) for viewing .ps, .eps, .pdf

xdvi  (/usr/bin/xdvi) for viewing .dvi files produced by latex

Text editing/writing

vi  (/bin/vi or /bin/vim)  for editing all types of text files

xemacs  (/usr/bin/xemacs)  for editing all types of text files

latex  (/usr/bin/latex) for executing .tex files
Computation

g77 (/usr/bin/g77) FORTRAN77 compiler

ifc  (/opt/intel/compiler80/bin/ifc) FORTRAN90 compiler

matlab  (/usr/local/matlab/bin/matlab) matlab 6 (6.5.0.180913a release 13)


File conversion

ps2pdf (/usr/bin/ps2pdf) for converting .ps or .eps to a .pdf file

dvips  (/usr/bin/dvips) for converting .dvi to .ps

convert  (/usr/bin/convert) convet various types of ps, pdf or image files

Web viewing / webpage creation

netscape  (/usr/local/bin/netscape)  Netscape 7.2 for  web viewing

netscape composer  (open via netscape)  for creation of .html pages


Misc.

print  (default printer is hpcesr:  IP = 169.232.145.157)

xcdroast  (/usr/bin/xcdroast)  for burning a cd
