Effect of SST on Eta-initialized runs

Runs made for 28-30 August, 2001, commencing at 18Z (11 AM PDT). Resolutions of Domains 1, 2 and 3 are 54, 18 and 6 km, respectively. TGC = ground/sea surface temperature; RH = relative humidity. Sea surface temperature is fixed for both simulations.

Left side panels show original Eta-initialized run, as depicted on previous page. This simulation had suspect SSTs near the coastline. To examine sensitivity to this, the LOWBDY file from the AVN run (previous page) was used in place of the original Eta data for a second run. This simulation is depicted in the right column.
